The competition, entitled “Starter Island” is scheduled for August 21-28 2015, and invites teams of entrepreneurs to plan and strategize their concepts for products and ideas, while vying for the grand prize.
I was fired once about three years ago. Easily, the lowest point of my life at the time but it turned out to be one of the biggest learning experiences of my career.

Last week I had an amazing opportunity to help organize BETA Camp; a week long camp that introduces junior high school students to a high level view of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) disciplines.
I’m back home refreshed and energized from my time at Front End Design Conference in St. Petersburg, Florida. I was lucky enough to speak about my experiences working remote back home in The Bahamas. A part of the talk discussed some of the tips and tricks I’ve learned while trying to improve my workflow to be more efficient.
The time finally came. After a few months playing the waiting game, the dreaded email popped up in my inbox. To say I was surprised at the outcome wouldn’t be completely true.
As I’m about to go on StartupBus for the 2nd year in a row, I can’t help but think of all the experiences I’ve had with the startup culture. I’m fortunate to have had the opportunities to really get involve in the tech community since then and it has been an amazing experience.
